Ascension Day and Pentecost

Ascension Day is the fortieth day after Easter. This is the day when Christians celebrate Jesus’s ascension into heaven.

Pentecost is an important festival in the Christian calendar and is often described as the Church’s birthday. It is celebrated 50 days after Easter Sunday and brings the Easter season to an end. The word “Pentecost” comes from the Greek word for “fiftieth”.

Remarkable Women in the Cathedral (KS2-KS3)

Women have long played an important part in Christianity and in local, national and global affairs.

The stories, objects and windows found in Bradford Cathedral testify to the remarkable women who have had a positive influence on Christian belief and practice and who have worked to make the local community and wider world a better place.

We've produced a booklet about the heritage and achievements of some of Bradford's remarkable women; accompanied by a list of suggested activities for children and young people.
