Latest Message from the Dean

A message from the Very Revd Jerry Lepine, Dean of Bradford

One of the roles of a cathedral is to be a committed community of daily prayer at the heart of a city and diocese. Prayer is all about being present to God as God is always present to us. In that place of communion we bring to God the people that we are and the concerns  that we carry. It is our privilege to offer this ministry for the City, Region and Nation. If you would like to join us for Morning (Monday to Saturday) and Evening Prayer (every day) you can find details here. Also, if you would like prayer for yourself or others then please get in touch with us here. This is your cathedral and we look forward to welcoming you back in the coming months.

Sundays at 10:15am

We had so many encouraging comments about last Sunday’s service. Nearly five hundred people have now clicked on that link. That is five times the number that we usually get.

Every time I phone someone they ask about this Sunday! So, here is the current situation. We are not allowed to use the cathedral at the moment for these services. Neither can people from different households be in the same space. So we are pre-recording different people based in the homes and the service will go out at 10:15am on Sunday. So, do tune in again.

Morning and Evening Prayer

We are saying these online from our homes at 9am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday. We have experimented with a handful of people and we are getting the hang of it.

If you would like to join us please email Canon Paul ( and he will add you to the list. You will need a device to see / hear and another with the Church of England Daily Prayer app. Alternatively, you can just listen in.

Bishop Nick's Blog

A daily blog is being posted – do read Bishop Nick. Here is a quote…

So, the question remains: does our confidence – our faith – lie in a set of personally positive circumstances or some equation for securing a future? Or does it lie in a conviction that transcends the immediate good or ill that being human necessarily brings us? In Christian terms, does my faith lie in a formula … or in the person of the God who takes a longer view and, as we will re-live at Easter, defies death itself?

Volunteering Opportunities

Bradford District is a place where the people band together. We help each other in times of need, we are a close knit and supportive community. Now especially is a time when people can get through this tough time together. Bradford Council are encouraging people to join their growing band of brilliant volunteers, helping and supporting everyone across our district so that people can get through tough times together.

While we are staying home and staying safe, people can still make a difference. If you are in need of urgent help or support, please call 01274 431000.
